Toffee Shortbread Bars

Guys – this is it! An amazing, EASY, delicious dessert that is so impressive to serve… and did I mention easy???? I love toffee and I whenever I am at the store I always am on the lookout for the Heath Toffee Chips in the baking aisle. When they are in stock, I pick up a bag to keep on hand, and I am always looking for ways to use them. Well, Pinterest did not fail me this time, with the Milk Chocolate Toffee Shortbread Bars.

The base of these bars (as explained in the name!) is shortbread. Now, who doesn’t love shortbread? Whipping on shortbread, when you have a food processor, is such a painless task – I highly suggest using yours if you own one. The butter gets incorporated into the other ingredients evenly and the consistency of the dough comes out perfectly every time.

Once I cooked the shortbread layer, I added the sweetened condensed milk for the second layer sprinkled with some toffee chips. Yep – that’s it! Throw them in the oven for a few minutes and layer two is complete!

Layer three was the only labor-intensive layer, it is was minimal at that! You take the chocolate chips and place them on the warm layer two and slowly (and gently) spread them out as they melt. Sprinkle the last of the toffee chips on top and voila – the dessert is complete!

I took these to a meeting at work and was blown away by the response. Just goes to show – an incredible dessert doesn’t have to be complicated!!!
