WINTER BREAK IS HERE!!! Let’s be honest, there were many times this fall where I wondered if we would actually make it to this point. Hands down, this has been the most challenging school year of my 20 years of teaching and today… I could cry I am so relieved to have some time off to recharge and rest. If you see a teacher today, give them a hug (or a socially distanced elbow-bump) and congratulate them on reaching this point in the year!
To make this time of year just a bit more stressful, I took on one of my largest (and fastest turn around!) cookie orders I’ve ever done! A former student, who works for the USC Football team reached out and asked if I could make custom cookies for a special weekend with the new recruits. Of course I said, “yes”, and embarked on a whirlwind 7 days of baking, decorating, and packaging my heart out!!! I love the final product and I hope they add a special touch to the incredible weekend for these future Trojans!
It was recently my mother-in-laws birthday and I brought a special wine for her birthday dinner that I had been saving for a special occasion. The Mount Veeder Winery 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon was amazing! I am a huge fan of Cabs and this one took the cake! It’s a little pricey for an everyday wine, but it is a perfect special occasion bottle!
Well… that’s all from me on this fine Friday! I’m going to be taking the next two weeks off to rest, relax, and enjoy but I will be posting again in January with holiday recaps, book reviews, and of course… new recipes!!!
Enjoy your holidays!
