Day Trippin’ – Lake Cachuma

The weather has been perfect and we finally had a weekend with nothing planned, so Greg made a last minute reservation at Lake Cachuma up in Santa Barbara County.

We had camped at Lake Cachuma once before, but it was a rainy, messy disaster. It wasn’t a bad place to camp- it just wasn’t our time! The campground is less than two hours from our house so it is really an ideal place to get away for the night. We got to our site mid-afternoon, set up (full hook-ups!!!) in no time, and took off to explore the area.

When we checked in the ranger said that there would be live music down at the new restaurant at the marina. The music drew us in, and we enjoyed a cold beer and some amazing smelling fries. It was kinda a perfect way to spend an hour!

We spent the rest of the afternoon reading, drinking beer, and watching the huge frisbee golf tournament that was taking place behind our site. With no campfires at our site (not sure why…) we turned in rather early and were ready to start the next day fresh.

After a fabulous camping breakfast (egg sandwiches-the best!) Greg and I decided to take the pups for a hike around the lake. Not quite sure where the path behind our campsite went, we were pleasantly surprised to find a long hiking path, perfect for a kinda-lazy stroll. Lily loved the trip, and Oscar did, too- even though we had to carry him up the hills!

The trip was amazing- exactly what we needed to refresh and get ready for the few weeks until Thanksgiving break!
