Buttermilk Biscuits

Sky-high biscuits, to me, are a sign of a good meal. I mean, you know they are light and fluffy, probably full of buttery goodness, and they are waiting to be topped with some concoction of amazing-ness. They are a blank slate for happiness.

I have made plenty of biscuits in my day, but the sky-high ones eluded me. So, when I decided it was biscuit time once again- I visited my friend Deb, at the Smitten Kitchen blog to figure it out.

Deb’s recipe for buttermilk biscuits was super standard, but she did have a few tips for biscuits that really seemed to work. First, don’t roll out your dough. Keep it thick and just press it out on the cutting board. Then- the real life altering tip… make a straight cut with your biscuit cutter. Don’t shift the cutter side to side when cutting the biscuit. This does not allow the biscuit to get all big and flaky. Who knew?!? Obviously not me because I was the craziest biscuit cutter before this!

Whatever the case- my biscuits went in to the oven looking like champs and came out of the oven (and into my happy belly!) in no time at all. As of now, this is my favorite biscuit recipe. Sky-high, fluffy, and so easy to make!
