Yesterday you saw the majesty that was homemade hummus and roasted carrots. Almost a perfect meal, right? I thought this meal looked mighty tasty, but it was missing an element. Right when I finished flipping through Sunset magazine, I happened to pick up my Cravings cookbook by Chrissy Teigen and low and behold she had a recipe a Skillet Bread that looked very much like a homemade pita bread. Serendipity- it seems that way to me!
This skillet bread is silly-easy. The most difficult part… there isn’t one. I guess you could say the timing, you have to let the dough rise, but, is that even difficult?
The recipe called for rosemary and garlic to add-in to the dough. I liked the rosemary a lot but I found the garlic to be a bit overpowering. You could truly add in whatever you had on hand to these little breads. I am actually really excited to try different thins next time I make them. You could go all Italian with some Parmesan and Italian seasoning… that sounds so good!

To cook them you roll out 1/6 of the dough into a round and throw it on a screaming hot pan for 2 minutes on one side and 1 minute on the other. When I pulled them off the stove I brushed them wi5 some melted butter, sprinkled with some kosher salt, and voila- all done!

These breads were so amazing and a perfect accompaniment to the hummus. These will DEFINITELY be made again!
