It’s that time of the year- the kiddos are coming!! In honor of the first day back with students, I wanted to share a little bit about the classroom updates I’ve done this summer.
This is my second year in the new classroom (17th at the same school!) so I didn’t have a major overhaul to partake in like last year. Basically, I just wanted to get to some projects I didn’t last summer and freshen things up a bit. My goal, with any classroom I decorate, it to make it an inviting and warm space for my students and me (if I have to be there 8 hours a day I might as well like it!)
First order of business was to paint my door. I chose a happy yellow (one of our school colors) to complement the gray and black I used inside the room. I found the “hello” decal on Etsy and I love how easy it was to use. I then placed a command hook on the inside of the door to put up cute signs throughout the year.
While in Waco at The Silos, we ran into Jimmy Don, of Fixer Upper fame. For those of you who aren’t familiar with him, he makes all the metal signs for Joanna Gaines. He has a small pop up store with his signs and I found, what I thought, was the perfect sign for the door leading into my classroom closest. He even signed it for me! I painted the door black and mounted the sign. I am so in love with it!
I finally got around to hanging my student trip posters from throughout the years (even my most recent one!) and cleaned up the corner that displays my student artwork. Overall, I am so happy with the way the room came out! The additional pops of color and artwork really softened up the room!
It looks great! I haven’t even been in yet!
