Grandparents to “bee” cookies

I recently had an order for cookies, and it was my favorite type of order – one where I was given free reign to design what I wanted! Basically, the order came in and the customer wanted to give some cookies to her friend who just found out she was going to be a first-time grandparent. When I asked what design she wanted, I was told to do whatever I felt was appropriate!!!! That was music to my ears – and I knew EXACTLY what I wanted to make.

I had purchased the bee hive and bumble bee cookie cutters over a year ago because I thought they were too cute to pass up. I had never had the chance to use them until this order. I opted for a chocolate cookie because I felt the pastel colors of the design would really pop with a darker background. Since the sex of the baby was unknown I wanted to keep the palette a light neutral.

The colors came out exactly as I imagined and the detail went on simply amazing. At the last minute I decided to add a sweet pink heart cookie with a message to really drive home the theme. It was one of my favorite orders to complete!!
