A Simple Pleasure

Over the weekend I finally watched a movie I have been waiting to see – A Simple Favor. Why did I have to wait so long to see it? Between the falling asleep on the couch, and the husband who hates chick-flicks, I had to find some quality daytime to conquer this film.

Let me start by saying that the two lead actresses are two favorites of mine. Anna Kendrick is so fun and quirky – if you haven’t read her memoir,  Scrappy Little Nobody, you must! I literally laughed out loud as I read about her misadventures in Hollywood and she became an endearing girlfriend of mine – one, of course, that I have never met!

And Blake Lively…how cool is she?!? This film proved that Ryan Reynolds certainly scored in the wife department and I found that I have a bit of a girl-crush on the more-than-perfect Blake!

Was the movie perfect? No. But, it was fun! The storyline was predictable, the characters a bit flat, and there were so many loose-ends that never got tied up! But check out the outfits – especially Blake’s – and the closet. My god – that is a closet any woman would die for! Also, can we talk for a moment about Stephanie’s (Anna Kendrick’s character) wardrobe? For a women who has little income her clothes were fantastic! But, any mom of a young school-aged kid knows, you never wear heels or wedges and short skirts to volunteer in your kid’s class. You just don’t. Seriously, the costume department should have known that!

So, should you throw away 2 hours of your life A Simple Favor? It’s the kind of film you have in the background while folding laundry where you don’t have to use your brain but you can certainly appreciate a small simple pleasure.
