I think it’s only fair that I introduce one of my most favorite family members. She is always the happiest to see me when I come home from work, she is always down for some extra snuggles in bed, and she is constantly up to eat any food I prepare for her! World, I’m talking about my sweet baby girl, Lily!
Lily came into our lives just a little over 3 years ago. I have always loved pittie mixes (they are SO misrepresented in society!) and I was determined I would own one at some point. When our Shepard suddenly passed away, I felt that our remaining Lab needed a new best friend. So I stalked the shelter app (way to go, Ventura County Animal Shelter – the app is one of my most used!) and talked with my colleague whose wife volunteers there. After some consideration, we thought Lily would be the perfect match for our family.
I have to tell you, the first time I met her, it was NOT love at first sight! She was a street rat- and not the cute kind! She had recently given birth and her figure…well…it wasn’t back to it’s “pre-baby” state (I feel you, Lily!) and she was about 20 lbs. underweight. But, man, was she sweet!!!
Lily was a perfect companion for our Lab until he passed away late last year, and she is the biggest lovebug I have ever had. Most of the time she is my preferred family member (am I joking???) and she is my constant companion – except for runs. She hates running. She will literally fake having to pee in order to stop running. It’s ridiculous. And cute…
So, get used to seeing this smiling face often on the blog – she loves to sneak into as many pictures as possible!
