I feel like sometimes you just need a “classic” dessert in your life. Something simple and unfussy… a dessert that is guaranteed to be good… no messing it up. That’s this recipe for Peanut Butter Pie; a simple good dessert.
The combo of chocolate and peanut butter is one of my favorites. I think they just belong together. I don’t like overly sweet recipes so I find the combo of the salty peanut butter with the chocolate is perfect for my taste buds. Although this pie recipe is a classic, I had never made it before and I was looking forward to the simplicity of it all.
It is pretty impossible to mess this recipe up! The only baking required is a quick bake of the wafer-cookie crust, so this would be an incredible recipe for hot summer days. It is also something that you can do up to a day in advance so if you are throwing a party it would be ideal. I loved the fluffy consistency of the peanut butter filling for the chocolate crust – the addition of cream cheese really made it luscious!
The recipe called for a drizzle of peanut butter and chocolate, but I opted for just the chocolate… and I loved it! It’s not too rich or heavy of a dessert and it is something that I will be putting on my dessert-rotation for sure!
