Raft of Stars is a book that came to be via Greg, who handed it to me and said, “you’re going to love this” and he wasn’t wrong!
Both Greg and I have been on a reading binge as of late, and when he finishes a book it goes into a pile for me to tackle next. I had a backlog of books from Winter Break, so I am many weeks behind Greg when it comes to books he has read. Although we typically like different genres of books, there is a love we both share for really good literature.
Best friends, Fish and Bread, are the main characters in Raft of Stars. These two young boys from Claypot, Wisconsin find themselves on the run with only a few meager supplies and each other to survive. The story follows the boys as they launch themselves into the wilderness, as well as the stories of those following them.
The story of the boys is captivating and the characters are so well developed- and I loved each and every one. It was such a different book than I typically read, but I truly enjoyed it. This is a book that both Greg and I really liked and it is something that I feel Tay would get into as well. While not a difficult book to read, I found the story well worth it. Give Raft of Stars a read- you won’t regret it!
