Well, after a few weeks in the new place, I am finally getting some places finished off enough to offer you a little tour! Let me start by saying, I love my new home. This is the fourth home that Greg and I have purchased together and I feel that with each home purchase we get better and better at the Reno/decorating aspect of it all! This home was just about 4 blocks from our old place but it had A LOT more square footage. When interest rates dropped dramatically at the start of Covid, Greg and I made the decision to start looking for a new home. This home, while offering a spectacular floor plan, was a bit rough- and needed some love. While we didn’t get to do ALL the renovations we wanted, I feel like we are in a good spot. So…here’s the first of the rooms I want to show off- the downstairs bathroom!
My inspiration for the little half-bath downstairs was a little farmhouse chic, with a fun tile floor and clean lines. I wish I would have remembered to take a “before” picture, but, of course I didn’t! Let’s just say this was a builder’s grade bathroom with no pizazz!
Most things I bought at Lowe’s which was my go to on this house. I find the decor options at Lowe’s to be far superior to The Home Depot, and I am too chicken to order things like vanities on Wayfair, where I cannot see the quality beforehand.
The bathroom walls, like most of the rest of the house, were painted in Sherwin Williams’ Revere Pewter. I am obsessed with this color and I find that it goes with everything!
I love the look of patterned tile floors, but I have found that it can get really pricey really quickly! These tiles, from Lowe’s are less than $1.50/square foot and are the perfect neutral pattern to go with everything. Plus, they are porcelain and super durable.
The vanity was another Lowe’s buy and it was actually on sale when I purchased it. I wanted something dark that had a barn-wood feel and this one fit the bill! The faucet was also from Lowe’s.
The mirror was a Target find and the lights were, once again, from Lowe’s. I did switch out the fluorescent lights that came with the fixture with some cool Edison bulbs that I previously had. I love the modern/farmhouse feel of both of these.
I finished off the bathroom with a Georgia O’Keefe print we had, a cool Turkish hand towel from Amazon, a mason jar soap dispenser, and a small vase bought at a local farmer’s market years ago. I thought these small touches really made the bathroom feel complete.
I love using this space, and I hope anyone who comes to the house loves it just as much. This is definitely the vibe I am going for in the entire place- and I’m glad to have nailed it in this one small room!
