One thing I have loved during these weeks of quarantine have been the community feel that has been spreading throughout the internet. People have been more friendly, more giving, and that includes eating establishments.
A lot of restaurants have been releasing recipes of their favorite items so the at-home chef can try their hand at them. One recipe that I have seen A LOT has been the Doubletree Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe so I finally decided to give it a go. I am genuinely happy with my go-to cookie recipe, but a back up could never hurt!
This recipe had all the typical players, when it comes to cookie recipes, with a special appearance of some oatmeal to mix in with the flour and a squeeze of lemon juice! Yes- lemon juice- an ingredient I have NEVER seen in a chocolate chip cookie recipe! But, being the team player, I added it in. The only thing I omitted was the walnuts, just because we are not a nut-in-your-cookie family.
The cookies came out good…really good! They were more complex than your normal cookie because of the oatmeal, and I swear- the lemon! I liked these cookies- almost as much as my go-to recipe. Would I make them again? In a heartbeat!
